I was privileged to have attended a wonderful event last Friday, the 28th of January at the Upper Room Entertainment Center. Aptly entitled “A Night of Prayer, Praise, Worship and Word,” anyone who was fortunate to attend would have been given that and so much more. By the time we got there (Trini late) Russell Leonce was already leading worship. The presence of the Lord could have been felt from the moment we began to ascend the stairs. Everyone present was literally in one accord just like the days of old; I guess the name Upper Room was no coincidence.
After the worship, Pastor Mark David was introduced to us. I took the time to survey the room and saw some renowned faces such as Koen Duncan, J Square, Kieron Ramsey……James Nic. As we took our seats, the first thing I noticed was that Pastor held a kindle in his hand. Wait what? A who? Yes, you read what I said. Being somewhat of a techie and a member of a church where we recently got a laptop, this was a bit of a shock. Try not to focus on the outward, I mean God did write the 10 Commandments on Stone Tablets. Get it?
Pastor David preached on “Making your life an eternal destiny/reality.” While I regret not being able to repeat everything taught, here are some highlights on how we can secure our destiny:
1. Love not this world nor the things of this world but the Word of God
2. Turn away from lust
3. Do God’s will
4. Look out for the Pride of Life
5. Leave the world to do the Father’s will
6. Repent – in this case to change
7. Ps 6:1
8. James 1:21-25
9. Matt 7:23 – God basically said you were working for me? But you weren’t on my payroll…
10. Most important Love God

The bus analogy stood out the most for me. One day you get on a bus from San Fernando heading to Chaguanas but fell asleep only to wake up and find yourself past your destination and now heading to Port of Spain. Pastor David asked “what would you do then?” One thing would be clear. You would become sad or angry, but what then? Would you fuss all the way to Port of Spain? Or would you get off at the next stop and get back to where you were supposed to be in the first place? Taking cognizance of or realizing and admitting to the fact that you are indeed heading in the wrong direction is not and certainly not sufficient. What are you doing about it? This is the mindset that we as believers are to have if we are to fulfill God’s desire for our lives. The ability to get up, stop the bus and get back on the right track; in short, repent.
After the message was preached, we were allowed to testify about God’s goodness in our lives. Kieron Ramsey then came and ended the night with a wonderful worship that left everyone present on that same spiritual high that Russell Leonce started the evening with.
Final verdict:
Wonderful, Awesome, Blessed, Amazing are the words that come to mind when I reflect on this night.
The Worship:
Again Out of the World.
The Food:
As with the above that corn soup lash like a cat-o-nine tails. ChristChild it was nice being served by you. I’m typing and the taste is still in my mouth.
Recommendation:
I know I wasn’t asked but I would LOVE to see this continue and more people come out and be blessed I would recommend it to EVERYONE saved and unsaved.
