Genesis...It has Begun

There hasn't been anyone like it before and it has been stirring great anticipation in the hearts of avid Hip Hop listeners. Featuring some of the most prominent to the underdogs in the industry, Genesis 868 will be starting a revolution. Taking place at the Upper Room Entertainment Center September 3rd, we will see the richness of talent unveil in south. Gospel Globe caught up with God's Farmer, promoter and featured artist in the event some the 411.

Gospel Globe - Who are the Promoters?
Top Art Productions which was founded by me.

Gospel Globe -Is it the first event since the Upper Room has been closed?
Yes it is. Actually the event the event doubles as the re-opening of the renovated Upper Room

Gospel Globe -Why the name Genesis 868?
It's the first Gospel Rap concert and it's the beginning of the new way rap that will be viewed.868 is Trinidad's area code

Gospel Globe -What do you hope to achieve from the event?
I hope that rap will  no longer be treated like a genre that can't minister.

Gospel Globe -Why do you think that Hip Hop isn't really recognized in Trinidad's Gospel as yet?
I think this is mainly due to the stigma that has been attached to the genre internationally.

Gospel Globe - How did you get involved in such a genre?
I grew up listening to that genre of music, so it was natural to me

Gospel Globe -You do know of the propaganda surrounding Hip Hop and its 'holiness', what is your take on the issue?
Genesis 868 is an opportunity to break the stigma... it is my take, so people have to just come and see for themselves

Gospel Globe -Seeing that you've embarked in this type of music, how do you handle criticism from the older heads that may proclaim it to be ungodly?
As a minister you will always be persecuted, it comes with the territory. If Jesus was persecuted, then who are we?

Gospel Globe - How would you describe the renowned hip hop artistes locally, mainly Shiselon,  Antus Keith and Jadee?
As Pioneers, they led the way for us.

Gospel Globe -Would we be seeing them head to head in an exclusive battle?
(He laughs) Don't know..., we'll see what happens

Gospel Globe -There are a number of upcoming artistes in the freestyle battle, with this new exposure, what do you hope to come out of this for them?
They will get a chance that the more wel kno wn artistes didn't have. They'll have the opportunity to be seen as ministers and not just rappers

Gospel Globe  -Have more youths become involved in the art form, and what else is being put in place to mentor such talent?
Yes! Genesis 868 signals the beginning of this.

Gospel Globe - Winsie-Ann Cuffie? Without a doubt it's on everyone's minds...how come? Does she possess the lyrical affluence of her male counterparts and can we expect some surprises from her?
In my eyes I consider everyone equal and yes I do believe that she has the ability to surprise even herself as long as she allows God to be the center of her focus.

Gospel Globe - Are there any other females in the line up?
All  can say is that there are a few surprises

Gospel Globe -I see that there will be dance competitions; will we be seeing our artistes participate in it this one time beside the general audience?
I would love to see that! (He laughs)

Gospel Globe - What advice do you have for anyone that may be experiencing a 'fight down' per say with being respected with the skill and trying to make it internationally?
PRESS ON!!! Gospel Soca and Rggae had the same fight but through determination it prevailed!

There you have it! Be there to see it all happen. We promise that you will be filled with inspiration, leaving you desirous of learning to spit rhymes and will be dancing your shoes off! Check out the clip below...Big up 868!

  • Esther James John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

When Jesus was on earth, a woman caught in the act of adultery was brought before Him by the scribes and Pharisees, the religious mafia of His day. They tried to trap Him by posing a question that was difficult to answer: "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" (John 8:5)

Jesus answered, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." (John 8:7) The scribes and Pharisees began to leave one by one till none of them were left.

The people in the crowd who wanted to condemn the woman could not. But Jesus, the only one in the crowd who truly had the power to condemn her, would not. He then asked her, "Woman... Has no one condemned you?" (John 8:10)

He spoke such words of grace to her because He loved her. Also, by asking her the question, He was giving her a chance to speak words of no condemnation to herself - "No one [condemns me], Lord." (John 8:11)

Jesus not only spoke words of grace to her, He also gave her the gift of no condemnation - "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more". It was when she received the gift of no condemnation that she had the power to "go and sin no more".

Today, you have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins. (Romans 8:1) Today, God cannot condemn you when you sin because He is faithful and just to what His Son has done.

So if the devil tries to convince you that God is angry with you when you blow it, just say, "God does not condemn me today because He has already condemned Jesus at the cross 2,000 years ago!"

Unfortunately, we still hear people saying, "Go and sin no more first, then I won't condemn you." Maybe you have been saying this to yourself too. But God says, "I don't condemn you. Go and sin no more." He gives you the gift of no con-demnation, so that you have the strength to go and sin no more!

    Thought For The Day

You have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins.
