The Heart of Worship

powernglory

When we understand the Word of God we unlock the power that will release quick results in our lives. In this generation we are always pressed for time, so we access anything that would make some of the things in our lives produce quicker results. If we stop reading the Word and begin to understand it to its full capacity and God’s uncorrupted interpretation then our Christian walk would become the blessing that God intended.

In the Bible, St. John 4:23-24, the Amp. version says: "A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers." "God is a spirit (a spiritual being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

Meditating on that scripture and getting it into your heart and spirit will cause you to want to worship our Father, who loves us so very much. Every time I read it I get a greater sense of what an awesome responsibility it is to be the Worship Leader of a church, to be able to cause a Body of Believers to want a Heart of Worship to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

The role of being a worshiper must be taken seriously. As I heard one minister say, "Worship is not the pre-game show" we have in church services. That passage of scripture says, "Worship Him in spirit and truth." True worship is when your spirit adores and connects with the spirit of God. It is not about the songs or how many musical instruments or how big the worship team is.

All of those things are great expressions of worship but that is not the essence of worship. The essence of worship is when your heart and soul, the core of your being, adores and connects with the Spirit of God. We can do that in so many different ways. We do it corporately as a body of believers who come together in unity and faith when we storm the heaven in us.

We have experienced the magnificent presence of God in our church body so many times, and have been carried away into the heavens of our soul and sometimes we feel like there is no coming back to earth when our hearts connect to the Father’s Heart in fullness of His wonderful presence. I love that and I am sure our Father loves that.

But, we also MUST worship outside the church, one on one, as a Christian, as a lover of Christ. Those are the times of intimacy that probably only you and your Father will know about. But what precious times they are when we are alone with the love of our life in an intimate relationship with our Father, our best friend! WOW!

In my ministry as an evangelist, unfortunately we observe the struggle week after week, service after service as worship leaders try to usher in the Presence of God. This, my friend can be the most difficult job in the world especially when there is honestly no understanding or expectation for the Spirit of God. When our worship attracts God we will surely experience what He originally intended for us, which is simply heaven on earth. There is no amount of technology or talent which will be able to stir up that kind of connection which God desires to have with us. So let’s come back to the heart of worship where God expects just pure kingdom worship.

  • Esther James John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

When Jesus was on earth, a woman caught in the act of adultery was brought before Him by the scribes and Pharisees, the religious mafia of His day. They tried to trap Him by posing a question that was difficult to answer: "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" (John 8:5)

Jesus answered, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." (John 8:7) The scribes and Pharisees began to leave one by one till none of them were left.

The people in the crowd who wanted to condemn the woman could not. But Jesus, the only one in the crowd who truly had the power to condemn her, would not. He then asked her, "Woman... Has no one condemned you?" (John 8:10)

He spoke such words of grace to her because He loved her. Also, by asking her the question, He was giving her a chance to speak words of no condemnation to herself - "No one [condemns me], Lord." (John 8:11)

Jesus not only spoke words of grace to her, He also gave her the gift of no condemnation - "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more". It was when she received the gift of no condemnation that she had the power to "go and sin no more".

Today, you have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins. (Romans 8:1) Today, God cannot condemn you when you sin because He is faithful and just to what His Son has done.

So if the devil tries to convince you that God is angry with you when you blow it, just say, "God does not condemn me today because He has already condemned Jesus at the cross 2,000 years ago!"

Unfortunately, we still hear people saying, "Go and sin no more first, then I won't condemn you." Maybe you have been saying this to yourself too. But God says, "I don't condemn you. Go and sin no more." He gives you the gift of no con-demnation, so that you have the strength to go and sin no more!

    Thought For The Day
