Heartline! It’s a word that usually describes a period of of panick and anxiety, but also one of precise decision making! These decisions need to be accurate or they can prove detrimental.
This is the precision in which the newest arm of Youth For Christ Trinidad (YFC) has decided to take in running their operations. In order to do this they felt it necessary to disengage with Heartline that aired on CNMG and Gayelle and direct their attention to Heartline Youth. This program is geared towards targeting today’s youth by engaging the aspects of their life where they feel the most pain.
The CEO and mentor of YFC Frank M. Porter is often quoted as saying “Jesus met a felt need.” So too are they meeting felt needs. In a time where sex, drugs, crime, abuse and the like are rampant in society, most of it afflicting or affecting Trinidad’s youth and the world at large, these are the issues the program has sought to address.

In their first season, the program titles included Self Esteem, Abortion, Suicide, Promiscuity, Date Rape, Alcoholism and Drugs among other issues.
Addressing felt needs is the main key. They have also sought for the program to be dynamic and engaging by utilizing various art forms.
In one episode, Leel Arlene Bain, a dynamic poet gave her take on promiscuous women in the piece ‘Catharsis’.
In a two part series, Mr. Errol Fabien came on set and gave an in-depth testimony about his past. He identified his addiction to various drug substances and stressed on the importance of family life in combatting the war.
Many other people and organizations have passed through the set of Heartline including Shane Gibson aka Rizon, Russell Leonce, Nehilet Blackman & D’ All Girls Band, The Rape Crisis Society of Trinidad and Tobago, Rapport and many more.
Season 1 has recently concluded, and the crew is currently preparing for their 2nd season starting May 7th on tv6 at 5pm. Insiders indicate that the second season is a must-see as Heartline continues to break down walls and plant seeds of upliftment in the streets of Trinidad.
