I LOVE PORN

love_porn

I remember when on tv sex was having actors roll around on a bed with sheets, now we see everything but the sheets. We are so bombarded by sex that our minds have been perverted at young ages so much so that was was a beautiful genre of music is now a synonym for porn. Blues is such a beautiful genre, but now we can never say it name without someone thinking along the lines of pornography. We are bombarded by sex everywhere and have everything influencing what sex is supposed to be to us; techno is the only music genre I can think of that doesn’t tell you what to wear, say, do or how to position your partner because its mainly instrumental. Please note that I said partner because sex is no longer limited to man and wife or even male and female any more, or even humans, we are hooking up with random persons and even with animals. Many of us at some time or another have seen a video, played a game or listened to a song intentionally or not that has some kind of pornography.

Sometimes even the ‘strongest’ Christian have problems steering clear of sexual influences because it seems that there is no place to hide. Do you watch porn? If yes why? What is your reason for doing so? I had the opportunity to ask my yet to be saved friends these questions and we all had what seemed valid reasons; information and research, art and entertainment and some we able to trace the root of what led them to it as peer pressure. Curiosity for some is usually the trigger that would be the excuse for wanting to know more about sex. Information and research, was an interesting way of putting across a desire that porn can create. Some are visual learners so looking at a couple would teach them what they are to do when the time comes. At the risk of sounding super spiritual but I serve an all knowing God and I believe that He would teach me and there are valid research materials that teach you what to expect without all the fluffy stuff that are shown. Pornography creates a sexual desire that you need to have sexual release either in the form of intercourse or masturbation, its never as innocent as research.

The human form is a beautiful and well designed organism, created by an all knowing God, as an artist and I understand the human form in all of its beauty. In all of its glory with a professional model I was exposed to a human body not my own, which is not the same as pornography. There were no sensual poses or what you see on porn it was simply a human figure without clothes. You insult my artistic intellect when you say pornography is art. Pornorgaphy is defined as a printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings.

Pornography doesn’t display what is real and it would distort our view of what is beautiful.  Pornography creates a false reality of what the body is supposed to look like. Porn stars are models with 36-24-36, well toned, chiseled, bronzed and well shaven bodies. I’m not quite clear how it can be classed as entertainment with no plots, cheesy story-lines and characters who end up having sex after the first minute, what is entertaining about it?  Read a book if you a looking for real entertainment, this type of entertainment causes a chasm between you and God. Ephesians 5:3 ...there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality...because these are improper for God’s holy people. God desires to dwell among us and live in us, Pornography creates lust which divides us from the lover of our soul. James 1:15 New Century Version This desire leads to sin, and then the sin grows and brings death.

Peer pressure is a common reason to begin watching pornography, but are your friends constantly with you; when you are on your computer at 1 am bored of facebook, or on a study break? Peer pressure is the reason you start watching it but is it the reason that you continue to watch it? Why do you continue watching it, if you have gathered all the research, realised that its not a good form of entertainment and your friends have left? You watch it because it is addicting. “Research has shown that sexual activity and sexual fantasy can alter brain chemistry and produce profound feelings of pleasure.” According to a recently published book, new scientific studies show that “the release of brain chemicals [in sexual activity]… result[s] in emotional bonding and a powerful desire to repeat the activity.” The emotional bonding triggered by sexual activity is ideally suited to cement and deepen the relationship between a husband and wife, but when triggered by images it results in deep emotional frustration even as the compulsion to continue viewing pornography increases. Dr. Mark Laaser who holds a PhD in religion and psychology, author and speaker of several books including Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction and The Pornography Trap.

Whether its a battle with itchy ovaries or overactive Y chromosomes we each are responsible for this temple that God has given us, polluting it with images that are not realistic or even fathomable is setting yourself up for sin. 2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV) Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. RUN!!! for those who have never viewed porn, run from the desire of lust and fornication that pornography creates and nurtures and for the many of us who have been baited into that web of lust and sin we have a hope in Christ Jesus, he has enabled us with the Holy Spirit who empowers us to pursue righteousness.

Sin no more were the words that Jesus spoke to the woman who was caught in adultery, He didn't judge her like her accusers but he forgave her. For my friends who are battling with any form of sexual impurity I pray that you vow with me to sin no more on the road to recovery and to remain free there are steps to take.

  • Repentance from the sin that grieves God
  • Forgive yourself
  • Cut it off!! Get a porn blocker if you have to and set it to high!
  • Accountability; you can’t do this on your own. Ask God to show you a trustworthy person who can relate or has overcome this trial and have full disclosure of your Internet usage, music and movie choices.
  • Redirect the time that you would have spent watching porn and fill it with something of purpose.

Gaddafi, Saddam and Osama: On The Death of a Tyrant

muammar-gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi was killed this week by a force of citizens of his country that indicated that enough was enough. He had to die to liberate their country. I’ve heard much about him over the few years of my own life, driving me to wonder how long many have waited for that moment.

In the last few years, two other noted and well hated leaders were killed, namely Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden.

Saddam Hussein, former premier of Iraq, was executed after a death sentence was passed for him, to atone for a multitude of offenses of local and international law, after a well publicised war against terror waged mainly by the United States and England.

Bin Laden, the former leader of the Al-Qaeda was executed by American military personnel after they finally found him hiding in Pakistan earlier this year.

In all cases, many persons worldwide rejoiced and it is totally understandable in human context how someone may have come to do so.

As Christians however, we are bound by different rules to those that have found popularity in the world. We cannot rejoice in these deaths, as each of them, though they signal ground breaking changes to the world’s realities, they still mean that another soul may have been lost without accepting Christ as their saviour.

Be happy perhaps for those who may have been liberated, for the other lives that may be saved, or freedom found, but not for the death of a tyrant.

In the words of Martin Luther King Jr.:

“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

Such stirring words spoken, but they follow the simple utterances of Christ as he spoke to the masses on a mountain, as quoted in Matthew 5:

Matthew 5: 44 - 47
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?”

It isn’t easy, is it? I know it isn’t. The truth is however, this is the basic premise of philos, or brotherly love.

You are your brother’s keeper. Yes, Cain had it wrong.

If this is not something that you think you can do, I beg you to spend some time in the word. There is a verse in Proverbs that we all know, and here is another occasion it applies:

Proverbs 3: 31
“Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.”

The hate you may express against another man, though he may have “sacked and pillaged” or caused wars and strife, is not of God. Matthew 5 has a lot to say on the topic.

ThoughtProverbs 10: 12
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs
Let us instead reward hate with love. As Martin Luther King Jr. said in the quote previously mentioned, you can’t drive hate out with hate. Hate has a strange way of causing more hate. You can only end hate with love.

Muammar Gaddafi’s last words, as he begged for his life, according to an article in the UK’s Guardian were “What did I do to you?”. Shortly afterward he was killed with his own favourite gold gun, as reported by an Australian news site.

I wonder if, when asked that question, one could have the strength to respond and say “It’s not what you have done to me, but what God can do for you.”

I pray we all find the strength to answer similarly.

Camping's Prediction: Will the World End Today?

Camping_2011

Okay, so we have been reliably informed that May 21st 2011 did not mark the reappearance of Jesus Christ but the beginning of Judgement and the actual end of the earth is five months later which makes it Friday 21st October 2011. Yes… Today, Friday 21st October 2011, we should make our calling and election sure.

I agree emphatically with Mr. Camping that Jesus Christ is coming soon. I agree with him that we, yes you and Me, we should make our calling and election sure.

But …this is where Mr. Camping and I part ways. I’ll start with the very popular and well bandied about text from Matthew 24: 36 –

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” KJV (see also Mark 13: 32).

As I continue in Matthew 24 where the disciples question Jesus about the signs of his coming verse 6 states “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet”.

To date we have seen the wars and the rumours of wars. Some of the other signs we have been advised to look out for and have seen are:

  • Nation shall rise up against Nation

  • Famines

  • Pestilences

  • Earthquakes in Divers places

Verse 8 clearly says to us that “All these are the beginning of sorrows.” For many of us, we like you Mr. Camping would wish that the signs we now see are the end and then Christ shall come.

Judgment_Day_21_May_2011

In my review however, I have found that there are other signs which have begun but are still to be manifested in a greater manner, they include:

  • The elect shall be hated of all nations

  • Many shall be offended and hate each other

  • False prophets shall arise and deceive many

  • The love of many shall wax cold ( Matthew 24: 9-12; Mark 13:9,13,22)

Mr. Camping your very presence and actions indicate that truly the Lords’ return is imminent (False prophets shall arise and deceive many). It is telling though; that there is a role for us as the elect before the end and our role is outlined as:

  • Then you (the elect) shall be delivered up to be afflicted

  • The gospel shall be preached in all the world

Yes our role isn’t nice and flowery, no sir, we have to get down and dirty, take some bruising, some of us will have to die. However as we explore the books of Matthew and Mark further we note that after the tribulation (the trying of the elect- Matthew 24:29; Mark 13: 24) these signs will also be seen:

  • The sun will be darkened

  • The moon shall not give her light

  • The stars shall fall from heaven

  • The powers of heaven shall be shaken. ( Matthew 24:29; Mark 13:24,25)

So the glory and majesty that we look forward to will and must be pre-empted by real trials and real tribulations for the people of God – all of us who believe in Jesus Christ, keep his commandments and have made it out business to take the gospel to the ends of the world. Yes, as in everything else done by God, we are given a role to play in our salvation.

But…there is always good news, the good news is:

“And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”  (Matthew 24: 30, 31; Mark 13: 26, 27)

1 Thessalonians 4:15 - 17 tells us:

“ For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Rapture, beautiful rapture, yes this is when it will come not now, not when we still have Gods’ work to do, not when we have not fully felt the persecution resting upon us.

  • Esther James John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

When Jesus was on earth, a woman caught in the act of adultery was brought before Him by the scribes and Pharisees, the religious mafia of His day. They tried to trap Him by posing a question that was difficult to answer: "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" (John 8:5)

Jesus answered, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." (John 8:7) The scribes and Pharisees began to leave one by one till none of them were left.

The people in the crowd who wanted to condemn the woman could not. But Jesus, the only one in the crowd who truly had the power to condemn her, would not. He then asked her, "Woman... Has no one condemned you?" (John 8:10)

He spoke such words of grace to her because He loved her. Also, by asking her the question, He was giving her a chance to speak words of no condemnation to herself - "No one [condemns me], Lord." (John 8:11)

Jesus not only spoke words of grace to her, He also gave her the gift of no condemnation - "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more". It was when she received the gift of no condemnation that she had the power to "go and sin no more".

Today, you have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins. (Romans 8:1) Today, God cannot condemn you when you sin because He is faithful and just to what His Son has done.

So if the devil tries to convince you that God is angry with you when you blow it, just say, "God does not condemn me today because He has already condemned Jesus at the cross 2,000 years ago!"

Unfortunately, we still hear people saying, "Go and sin no more first, then I won't condemn you." Maybe you have been saying this to yourself too. But God says, "I don't condemn you. Go and sin no more." He gives you the gift of no con-demnation, so that you have the strength to go and sin no more!

    Thought For The Day

You have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins.
