Simple Worship

This week I was talking to my Aunty Jenny on Facebook and all the while we chatted, one thing that stood out was worship and how much it has been a factor in both our lives!

I know for me especially, it has been the biggest aspect of my life that I have had to continuously work on it. It was a lot of discipline that went into it and I did not understand why. But I soon realized that discipline is part of worship. The fact that we are choosing to make God's praise a priority in our lives, says that we willing to be someone who will worship in spirit and in truth, with no hidden agenda.

You see, worship is something that can take you from the edge of insanity, and leave you in awe of the power of God. There so many times in college where I would be on my bed looking up at the ceiling wanting to pull every single hair off my head, then I would begin to worship, and suddenly, it's like a burden was lifted and I then know everything would be alright. Even though the situation and circumstances says otherwise, worship gave me that comfort of knowing that God is right here and hearing my cries. It's awesome I tell you! Awesome!

I full on believe that as children of God, a lifestyle of worship is really important to our spiritual lives. I believe we should be seeking out every chance we get to worship or be in an atmosphere of worship. Because when we do that, our eyes are more focused on where the Holy Spirit is leading us and we just get confidence of knowing that no matter what, God is here.

What I discovered is that we can create an atmosphere of worship everywhere we go, by just simply being in a constant state of worship. For me the easiest way is just too simply flip on some praise and worship music. It's the easiest way I have found personally to constantly stay in the environment of worship. And I have found that the more I am actually able to be in the mode, I don't get angry anymore, my entire world could be falling apart but it won't shake me. People could be getting on my nerves and I won't say a word, because in this atmosphere, I am at ease, I am worshipping but also resting in God, being healed and allowing Him to work on my behalf.

I get the sweet opportunity to be in God's presence, and in His presence is fullness of joy! So why would I not want to worship and then find myself back to being angry, annoyed, and worrying about everything? The awesome power behind worship is that it gives a sense of peace, and holds everything together by the awesome Creator of the universe!

It's a lifestyle though, and that means it has to be worked into you. The more you worship, the more it becomes part of you and the easier it is to get back to the heart of what worship is.

My gosh.., I have not actually even began to scratch the surface of worship yet. But I just wanted to do a simple blog. There is still so much I want to say, but I know it's not meant to be said now. So I will leave it as it is.

But hey, I just want to encourage you to get in that place and create the atmosphere. There is also a lot I can say about atmosphere, but I am preparing another blog on that. But create that atmosphere and get in it. Learn what it means to be a worshipper. It is something I had to do all over. I had to learn what it meant to be a worshipper, then a worship leader.

I realize that people have a hard time worshipping in a co-operative setting because firstly, they have never really experienced what worship is, they do not understand what it means to worship and they don't worship in their own closet space. So now when they come to church on Sundays, they just stand there. But the more we worship, is the more we get a revelation of what it is, and of who God is and why it is that we worship. But we just need to start.

If you can't remember anything at all that I wrote so far, then remember this......Worship! Just worship! Don't wait for company, just start worshipping!
