Style ah Style part 2

In  what can  only  be  described  as  an  ironic  twist  of  faith,  almost  immediately  after  posting  the  first  part  of  this  saga  I  had  a  personal run-in  with  the  extra fitted style.  It  seems  that  my  brand  new  work  khaki  pants  took  offence  and  while  being  washed,  shrunk  itself . One  can  only  imagine  my  discomfort  in  the  work  week  that  followed...

That  only serves to push the point that overly tight clothes has to be unhealthy.  What a better way to know than to experience it…

I would like to show you all something. Yes, that's me back in day

See the finish? Baggy jeans, 3xl tee, towel in the back pocket….fun stuff man nothing extra tight there. However, I’ve since changed to something more ‘fitting.’

In  Style  ah  Style  Part  1,  I  highlighted  some  of  the  funny  elements  of  the  styles  we  have  come  to  accept  today and  how  I  see  them.  Now,  before I continue with  part  2,  I  would  first  like  to  state  that  I am  in  no  way  against persons  wearing  whatever  they  desire  and  I  agree  that  we  all  have  our  own  styles  etc. We’re all entitled to our opinions right?

However,  I  honestly  see  a  problem  with  wearing  prints  that  have  various  known  occult / esoteric  symbols  attached to  them.  I  know  believers  won't  wear  a  t-shirt  sporting  three  6's,  but  some  would  wear  one  with  a  printed Anarchy  symbol  because  its  the  latest  or  it  just  looks  cool.

Ephesians 5:8-11

8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.  9  (For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth).  10  And find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. NIV

8  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:  9  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)  10  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.  11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. KJV

One  can  claim  to  not  be  aware  of  these  things, that  is  why  I  am  here  to  shed  light on this situation.  A  simple Google / Bing/ Yahoo  search  on  occultist  signs  and  symbols  will  open  your  eyes  to  the  obviously  occult symbols that we  allow  into  our  lives.  In  fact,  you  don't  even  have  to  go  that  far;  just look up your favorite secular rapper or rock artist. Hey, just check any secular artist!

Rocawear – All Seeing Eye

Now,  it  has  been  argued  that  they  mean  nothing  and  that  sometimes  we  put  too  much  focus  on  unimportant  things.  However,  I believe  that  we  must  be  aware  of  the  things  we  are  not  supposed  to  be  involved  in  or  associated  with  because  as  believers,  we  are the  light  of  this  world;  The  city  that  is  set  on  a  hill  cannot  hide.  It  goes  without  saying  that  our  lives  must  reflect  Christ  and  our daily  walk  be  a  bible  for  those  who  are  yet  to  believe.  If  all  this  is  true,  then  we  must  also  be  aware  of  what  people  'see'.  We should  never  judge  a  book  by  its  cover,  but  practicality  implores  us  to  consider  that it is a reality for most people.

Don’t get me wrong, this is merely meant to enlighten, not create doctrine, it does not seek to expel but to educate, we must be aware of what is going on around us. 1 Peter 5:8 calls for us to be vigilant. We must be forever vigilant lest we fall into the enemy's traps.  And not be sidelined with a self contained form of acceptance, that all things go, as long as we don't ‘openly’ blaspheme against God.

To my ladies, hold on let me get my suit on.

Ok cool so ladies, men were truly blessed the moment God created women. You all are awesome and I have no issues with that you wear. (If it was only so easy.)

Proper clothing etiquette requires that we be mindful of the distractions that come with what we adorn our God given body. You know what I am talking about….yes that. We’re our brother’s keeper at the end of the day so moderation is the order of the day. Now, I am in no way saying wear ankle length dresses ok, cool.

Ok James so what about 1 Samuel 16:7? There is no defined look for a Christian, as we see in this portion of scripture Samuel was looking for what he thought would have been the ideal look for a king. God corrected him saying more or less that He is not looking at the outside but what’s on the inside. But, as I said before no believer would put on a jersey with an inverted pentagram now would they?

Finally my brethren test everything, hold on to that which is good and avoid every kind of evil. Awareness is the key and such a thing as excess exists.
