The Reloaded Godliness

Godliness Reloaded

It would seem most things in our society today are being reloaded and revamped. It has almost become part of our culture to look forward to the 'modified version' with the 'new features' added in. From movies to gadgets to style, we always seem to be waiting with baited breath for the new trendy thing. As with everything else this has unfortunately spilled over into our Godliness.

One area in particular that has been modified somewhat is the area of our faith. Jesus spoke about faith while giving a parable in the Gospel of Luke, in which he said ".... Nevertheless when the son of man cometh shall he find faith on the earth."

It would seem that in many ways we have come to...well not disbelieve, but just believe alot less. Somehow the belief in God and leaving it in his hands have been subtituted by our own understanding.

The faith that (in my humble opinion) causes many african nations today to experience such supernatural miracles has somehow evaded most of the "developed" world as technology and modernization has stepped in.

God seems to have been put into a box for some religious person to mention every once in a while. Prayer has now become a good way to start meetings.

Paul spoke to Timothy in the Bible about those who would have a form of Godliness but deny the very power that God possesses. The 'old church' held  many scriptures as 'golden' - these passages have become wishful thinking to many of this generation.

Stress medicine has taken the place of the verse that speaks of "...casting our cares upon Him for He careth for you." A lawsuit has taken the place of the scripture that says "...vengeance is mine i will repay". Why wait on the Lord to keep me in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3) when a shrink can be payed top dollar to do the same thing.

In my view the new is not always the best choice. Sometimes the original version can never really be improved.

There's something about what the original manufacturer was thinking about that just can never be redone or done better.

Spiderman fans would say nothing can beat the first installment and trust me gadgets don't always come with better features the second time around.

We should evaluate our belief, Gods unchanging hand is evident through out history and it has a good track record of pleasing its users. In this case the original is a classic never to be reloaded!!

  • Esther James John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

When Jesus was on earth, a woman caught in the act of adultery was brought before Him by the scribes and Pharisees, the religious mafia of His day. They tried to trap Him by posing a question that was difficult to answer: "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?" (John 8:5)

Jesus answered, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." (John 8:7) The scribes and Pharisees began to leave one by one till none of them were left.

The people in the crowd who wanted to condemn the woman could not. But Jesus, the only one in the crowd who truly had the power to condemn her, would not. He then asked her, "Woman... Has no one condemned you?" (John 8:10)

He spoke such words of grace to her because He loved her. Also, by asking her the question, He was giving her a chance to speak words of no condemnation to herself - "No one [condemns me], Lord." (John 8:11)

Jesus not only spoke words of grace to her, He also gave her the gift of no condemnation - "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more". It was when she received the gift of no condemnation that she had the power to "go and sin no more".

Today, you have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins. (Romans 8:1) Today, God cannot condemn you when you sin because He is faithful and just to what His Son has done.

So if the devil tries to convince you that God is angry with you when you blow it, just say, "God does not condemn me today because He has already condemned Jesus at the cross 2,000 years ago!"

Unfortunately, we still hear people saying, "Go and sin no more first, then I won't condemn you." Maybe you have been saying this to yourself too. But God says, "I don't condemn you. Go and sin no more." He gives you the gift of no con-demnation, so that you have the strength to go and sin no more!

    Thought For The Day

You have the gift of no condemnation because the Son of God was condemned for all your sins.
