Listen to Da Kona...

Quiet in demeanor but not to be taken likely. Short in stature but tall and mighty in spirit. Valiant, faithful, and dedicated to the cause of spreading the Gospel of Christ to all the world is Konata McCree.

Originating from the town of Port Fortin Trinidad and Tobago, he brings an interesting twist to the genre of Hip Hop music. He's the first artiste to have infused in his songs, the sounds of Jamoo and Hip Hop therefore creating 'Jampop'. Possessing the immaculate voice of any professional American Hip Hop artiste, he professes his faith and testament of being saved by grace.

Son of Ken and Colleen McCree, Konata described his beginning in the faith as an encounter one Sunday morning in service at an Open Bible church. While in the midst of worship, he felt compelled to begin a new life in Christ, thus at the age of fifteen (15) he began his journey singing Gospel Hip Hop.

Since then he has acquired as his personal favorites Isaac Blackman, Koen Duncan, T-bone, and Dwayne Tryumf. When asked why he prefers their sound, he described them as "unique in their styles and the way they bring the message across". As he matured in his fluency, versatility and awareness of the art form, it wasn't long before one of his influences recruited him in his musical label.

Renowned musician and producer Isaac Blackman of Jamoo Good News Ltd., then took Konata's apt for contemporary Hip Hop and combined his musical ability with his to create Jampop. Since then Konata has collaborated with the likes of Isaac himself, Nehilet Blackman and Kiki. He has performed in varied concerts within Trinidad and Tobago, and even as far as Uganda with the Blackmans.

He is praised for his latest song 'Push' which has caused him to be a familiar face amongst avid Gospel Hip Hop fans locally. The song encourages all to PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens), for which nothing can happen with out faith.

There's more that meets the eye with young Konata; He also enjoys the martial art form of Capoeira, exercising, and writing poetry. You can see Konata and Nehilet and 'D All Girls Band on July 1st at the Oasis in THE MIX for their album launch.

With a bright future ahead, everyone is employed to 'Listen to da Kona...'
