With an ability to transform any space into a masterpiece, Michelle Stowe prides her self on her natural ability and the quality of her work. “My work speaks for itself”, she exclaimed, “all who I have done work for can tell you.”

 

Sumich Designs, the name of her business, has only officially been operating for about five years but Stowe has been doing décor for almost 11 years. She has done everything from dinners to parties to weddings, which are her main business.

“ I’ve done from parties to dinners, to church decorating but I prefer to do weddings and mostly décor and rentals.” As she speaks, her wealth of knowledge and passion for what she does is ever evident, as she continues, Stowe expounds on past studies she’s done on the topic and what she’s learnt from her years in the field.

“I did some introductory courses in my early years, then I did a long distance course with a New York School called Hardcore Institute, but most of my experience have come along the years. “I look at a lot of magazines, I love to see the look on people’s faces when they enter the halls for their wedding reception and are immediately

Amazed by the transformation, so I always seek to keep current.”

Her stock room at her home and business office in Mon Repo, Morvant is bursting at the seams with over $60,000 worth of stock. “Customers come and tell you what they want, what colours they have in mind, if I don’t already stock them then I go source it, some times it’s important for the customer to see your idea, so I have a sample table that I would do to present to the customer.”

To contract the services of Stowe might cost you in excess of $15,000 a price she considers as not even able to compensate for the work she has to put out. “Doing a wedding at times is a lot of work, at times we have had to literally sleep in the hall that we’re decorating just to ensure it’s finished in time.” She exclaims. “ I use to do weddings for $8,000 and less but the cost of things are so expensive now that am not able to do it for that amount, there are people on hearing the price would try to ‘beat down’ your price but when they experience the quality of work they are pleased.”

Stowe has her eyes set on the clouds as she plans to focus on being the ultimate wedding planning, with the many connections she has made over the years she’s positioning herself to be the one-stop shop for couples seeking to get married.
