In today's world, everyone has an opinion, a message and an agenda. Some for good and other to desecrate what is pure, lovely and of good report. As I've quoted that verse we all have learnt in Sunday school, let's look at it in it's entirety
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Most of us try to do the honorable and righteous thing of fleeing from lustful thinking and attempt to renew our minds with the word of truth daily. However it seems as though spammers on Facebook have been making this harder for the easily swayed. Recently while conducting my regular business on the social networking site on work, there in my feed was an image of two naked ladies. That picture appeared in the most unlikely time when my manager, supervisors and senior staff was standing behind me. To make matters worse the servers were moving slowing so my PC was near frozen. (Sigh) I then adjusted my skinny body to try blocking the screen till it was scrolled out of sight and refreshed.
Throughout the day again while conducting my business I had to see images of gays engaging in anal sex, girl on girl action but the epitome of blasphemy was when an illustration of ‘Jesus doing Christ’ was pasted on the walls of several of my friends. I knew these persons wouldn't engage in that nonsense and I couldn't comprehend why the spam had taken over their profiles.
The imagery is there for the under aged to view as they too use Facebook and this causes a bit of concern for me. After seeing the images, our brains being the complex organ it is, once it has a visual of something it can pull it up at any random given time. One pastor continuously says the devil can always put thoughts in our minds. To give a better illustration let’s use birds. Birds can be thoughts that fly over our heads ever so often. Question is would you let the bird build a nest on head?
I know without a doubt not every Christian is so perfect that they are absolutely resistant to every sin and temptation that comes to lure us off track. From the minute that you see these pop ups you have a choice, hide the posts, or delete them and don’t click. For those that have began to look and have these thoughts festering in their minds, I implore you to STOP. Take stock and pray for help to stop. The Lord can help you.
It’s unfortunate that spamming is becoming more prevalent on Facebook with that kind of content but I think it’s only fair that we understand what it is that causes this distress. Let's get a little technical. What is the difference between a virus and spam?
What is a VIRUS?
A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are man made. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.
Some people distinguish between general viruses and worms. A worm is a special type of virus that can replicate itself and use memory, but cannot attach itself to other programs.
What is SPAM?
Electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. Some people define spam even more generally as any unsolicited e-mail. Real spam is generally e-mail advertising for some product sent to a mailing list or newsgroup.
In addition to wasting people's time with unwanted e-mail, spam also eats up a lot of network bandwidth. Consequently, there are many organizations, as well as individuals, who have taken it upon themselves to fight spam with a variety of techniques. But because the Internet is public, there is really little that can be done to prevent spam, just as it is impossible to prevent junk mail. However, some online services have instituted policies to prevent spammers from spamming their subscribers.

All in all we need to be careful of what we click, what we watch and what we allow into our systems be it with PC’s or our spiritual man. Be vigilant, be pure...
